Hoka was founded in 2009 by French trail runners Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard at the height of the minimalist shoe movement. Hoka shoes provided the antithesis to those barefoot models: maximalist cushioning that cradled runners’ feet despite (or because) the trend. Mermoud and Diard were inspired by the smooth ride of mountain bikes and powder skis and wanted to give running a similar “floating feel.” They made prototypes themselves at first, then collaborated with a chemist at a Chinese shoe company to create an entirely new type of EVA foam that was both soft and surprisingly light characteristics that have since become synonymous with Hoka kicks. The oversized midsoles and smooth rides of HOKA running shoes make them ideal for a variety of running and training activities. The foundations of the best HOKA running shoes are the same, but designers tailor each model to specific characteristics. The new generation of HOKA was designed to help carry the momentum forward, but it does so much more. The best HOKA running shoes are listed below:
The most cushioned shoe in the HOKA road-shoe lineup, the game-changing Bondi 7 delivers a smooth, balanced ride over any distance. Engineered with the same full EVA midsole, breathable mesh upper and signature Meta-Rocker technology as its predecessor, the Bondi 7 is updated with a supremely plush collar. Made from ultra-soft memory foam designed to accommodate a narrower heel, the collar conforms to a wide variety of ankles, cradling the Achilles in cushy comfort. Unquestionably, the Bondi 7 will take you far and wide.
The latest silhouette within the iconic Clifton franchise, the Clifton 8 delivers an even softer ride than its predecessor. Building on the geometries that made the Clifton a gateway for first-time HOKA wearers, the Clifton 8 is reinterpreted with new, ultralight midsole foam that virtually disappears underfoot and is 15 percent lighter than the previous iteration. This next-gen design is crafted with a breathable mesh upper, ultra-plush tongue, and refined pull tab. Equipped with HOKA’s extended crash pad at the heel and increased rubber coverage for durability, the Clifton 8 is the ultimate everyday trainer.
Running Shoe Category: A3 – Maximum Shock Absorption
Autumn/Winter 2021. Great shoe for the runner of any weight with neutral support, looking for a shoe with high cushioning power but reactive on the forefoot. Perfect the new density of the midsole, now become more elastic.
The HOKA ONE brand has created quite a stir in the world of running shoes. They wanted to design a shoe that is not only comfortable but also capable of withstanding difficult terrain. Inside every pair of HOKA shoes is the company’s patented technology, such as the Meta-Rocker, which promotes a natural running gait for each individual runner. This technology helps to ensure a seamless transition from impact to toe-off, which in turn improves the overall efficiency of the runner. In addition to these signature technologies, HOKA shoes feature a cushioned midsole that is both lightweight and absorbent of shock. This technology is one of many. In addition, the Active Foot Frame integrates the arch of the foot and the heel into the midsole, allowing the shoe to conform to a wide variety of running gaits. The distinctive J-Frame is what sets HOKA’s stability shoes apart from the competition. The support provided by this frame is achieved without the use of the typically rigid materials that are present in stability shoes. This enables pronators to take advantage of stable footwear that is not only comfortable and lightweight but also provides the necessary support for their feet.
